Summon Monster: Range and Line of Sight

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

Hi All,

Regarding SM spells (in this case the SLA of a summoner), I have a couple of questions that have arisen that has made me hesitate over rulings during our game.

1) Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) - besides this meaning a maximum distance that the spell can be cast from the caster, does it also mean that if the caster, or summoned creatures, exceed this distance from each other, the spell is dismissed?

2) Can the caster lose line of sight of the monsters summoned during the duration of this spell, or does losing line of sight dismiss the spell?

Cheers!

Once summoned, the creature is there. Range and line of sight are only for where the creature is initially placed when summoned.

Edit: the creature is there until the end of the spell duration (or it dies, gets banished, or something else that prematurely ends the spell).

Ah-hah, thank you. You've solved my minor dilemma.
