Pirates with Class

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hi all :) So i have a question, Does anyone remember which book the "Pirate class" was in? I remember playing it many moons ago but i cant recall for the life of me the name of the book it was in.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you as always!

Did you mean the Pirate rogue archetype?

There are other Pirate themed archetypes, though this is the only one simply called "Pirate".

Otherwise, it was probably 3rd party. It would be helpful if you told us what you remember the class being capable of.

Liberty's Edge

There is a Pirate class in d20 Conan.

Or was the class you played specifically for Pathfinder?

Yar!

oh, you mean a character class that's a pirate, not me (a classy Pirate).

*walks away in disappointment*

...

However, if "many moons ago" mean pre-Pathfinder, it could be the Dread Pirate from Complete Adventurer (3.x), or the Dread Pirate from Song and Silence (3.x). I only know the one from Complete Adventurer, so I don't even know if they are the same or not.

More recently though, there is everything from the Pathfinder Player Companion: Pirates of the Inner Sea, which include the archetypes: Buccaneer (Bard), Corsair (Fighter), Freebooter (Ranger), and Smuggler (Rogue), as well as a new PrC: the Inner Sea Pirate.

I think the PrC does the job best of all, at least for Pathfinder. As to pre-3.0, I wouldn't know, as the only pirate-themed "classes" were all PrCs from, as Pirate said, in Complete Adventure.

Has anyone updated the 3.5 dread Pirate PrC?
I have a perfect candidate and it looks like it would be great for him.

If not, I might just use the 3.5 version as is? It's not bad...
Only change it really needs is change from d8 HD to d10 (they are a full BAB class).
Maybe Rally the crew AND Sneak attack together instead of one or the other?

What say you folks?

Rally the Crew (for those unfamiliar): starting at 3rd level a Dread Pirate can inspire his allies (including himself)in combat once per day. This inspiration grants them a +1 morale bonus on Saving throws vs charm and fear effects and a +1 moral bonus on attack rolls and weapon damage rolls. to be affected, an ally must be able to see or hear the dread pirate. the effect Last for 1 minute per class level, even if the dread pirate moves out of range or loses consciousness. This is a mind affecting ability.

The Buccaneer archetype for humans Gunslingers found in the Advanced Race Guide, IMO, is the best archetype for pirates out there. As a GM i would houserule that one so any race could play it, but that's just me.

3.5 had the Swashbuckler. Pathfinder has the Swashbuckler Rogue Archetype I believe. But there are numorous Pirate Themed Archetypes. You might get the pirate themed APs' (isn't there 2 now?) Player's Guide as I think they give a list of Archetypes that fit.

If the PC count as Human they can take the Archetype. Meaning Humans, Half-Elves, & Half-Orcs can take it.

Personally, I just open up the Racial Heritage Feat to all races.
