of a slam attack? A punch? a kick? what kind of hit is it?
of a gore attack? Is it a head butt?
thanks!
Pretty sure slam is undefined in terms of what is actually being used (I'd imagine it varies according to the creature). I was under the impression a gore was a horn attack, but I'm not entirely sure in the context of the rules. Both are natural attacks btw if you were asking that as well.
slam attack - I think it's just two hands coming down (think like worshipping something, but faster.)
gore attack - I agree with chaos: I think the gore attack is horns as well
From how I have always understood a slam, it would be comparable to a bull rush attack. I could be wrong. Anyone feel free to post info to the contrary.
Slimes have a slam attack, as do zombies.
I don't like the term because it is very confusing, hence me asking... :)
Actually looking up the monster rules, it doesn't specify, just says what they do so it seems all interpretations are equal :P
A slam is a heavy melee attack made with an appendage -- a pseudopod, tail, arm, tentacle, or whatever. It's kind of a generic "hit them with some blunt part of your anatomy." It is not an unarmed attack and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
Gore is an attack with horns on the head of a creature.
Yes, undefined is good...since it is, I can have a creature that is biped, and give it claw attacks with its hands by default...then with levels of ape shaman Druid do the 2nd level shift to gain two slam attacks and assign them to the legs...throw in a bite as well and you net 5 primary natural attacks with no trouble...but only because they don't assign body parts.
Cool, thanks for the clarification!

The 3.5 SRD defined a Slam as a bludgeoning attack with "an appendage" (so, an arm, tentacle, or pseudopod, I guess) and a Gore as a piercing attack with a horn or antlers.
I'd like to know what kind of action a Slam attack it, whether a standard, full-attack, or other type of action.
Daniel Turner Zen Archer wrote: I'd like to know what kind of action a Slam attack it, whether a standard, full-attack, or other type of action. A single attack of any kind is a standard action. It doesn't matter if you're shooting a bow, swinging a sword, or bashing your enemy over the head with the severed arm of his best friend.
Multiple attacks would require the full attack full-round action.
