Build Help - Ranger / Gunslinger / Rogue

Advice

Grand Lodge

Hey folks,

I was hoping for some constructive feedback and criticism on my build.
Party Role: The character’s role is to be both the skill guy and the ranged combat guy for our PFS group. The rest of the party is a meat shield fighter, a combat control melee fighter, a cleric, and a sorcerer.

Stat Array: STR: 10, Dex: 16 (17 @ lvl 4), Con: 10, Int: 18 (+2 from race), Wis: 10, Cha: 10
Race: Human

  • Lvl 1 – Ranger 1: Human Feat: PB Shot, Level Feat: Precise Shot, Favored Enemy: Humans
  • Lvl 2 – Musket Master 1: Class Feature: Rapid Reload Musket and other gunslinger things.
  • Lvl 3 – Rogue 1: Level Feat: Deadly Aim
  • Lvl 4 – Rogue 2: Class Feature: Combat Trick – Focused Shot.

Combat Gear: +1 Musket and alchemical cartridges out the yinyang at level 4.

Final Attack matrix:

  • Base Attack w/ musket: +7 Musket 1d12+1
  • w/ Point Blank + Focused Shot: +8 Musket 1d12+5
  • w/ Deadly Aim: +6 Musket 1d12+3
  • w/ PB, FS, and DA: +7 Musket 1d12+8

Finally, any suggestions on where to go for level 5 would be appreciated. Thanks!

1.) Focused Shot sucks. You should be focused on getting as many attacks as possible.

2.) Go for Ranger 2, or as much gunslinger as possible, until you get DEX to damage.

3.) Honestly, I would say pick a focus. you are trying to doing too much with one character.

How would you suggest getting multiple attacks with a musket?

musket master archetype is pretty much required for multiple attacks (which he's already intending to take)

rapid reload of course (which comes for free with the archetype)
Alchemical cartridges.
Then at level 3, you get the fast musket deed, and you're set for free action reloading.

Though I suppose it does kind of presuppose 3 levels in gunslinger (the sooner the better)

a. Thanks for the help!

b. That's a good idea to do. Would y'all recommend taking Deadly Aim or Precise shot?

Precise shot first, unless you intend on being a switch hitter of some kind. Then Deadly Aim. Precise shot basically gives you a +4 to hit when firing into a melee situation; dropping your accuracy even more to use Deadly Aim is useless if you'll be missing anyway.
