Just a courtesy heads-up: I have a full weekend and my postings will be sporadic at best. My parents and nieces were involved in a car accident yesterday (the other driver was at fault and ran an orange light) so I will also be going back home to see my family as my mother took quite a hit.
Thanks and sorry for the delay.
Seijiro
My only comment is that not all the sailors on the Valatroika should necessarily be classified as slavers, just like not all the sailors on the Lady started out as pirates, and some might not even classify themselves as that now, but as sailors, who happen to serve on a pirate vessel. That said, I'm not going to get into an argument over this, that's just my opinion. We should talk to them and maybe winnow out the slavers vs the sailors, that's just my opinion.

I will pray for your family, Rain.
Please give them my best when you see them and let us know if we can do anything to help.

Rain, so sorry to hear about your family's accident. My thoughts are with you and yours... Hope they are all well and recover from any trauma quickly. Take care and take what time you need.

Thanks, Jiro. My mum and 6 y/o niece got hurt (not dangerously so, but they are in pain - esp my mum) and youngest niece, 4 y/o, got crazy scared as the driver narrowly missed hitting my father and youngest niece's side of the car (which would have meant something far, far worse - thankfully my father braked when he did). I will be back on the boards fully on my Monday (your Sunday).

Right now we know of the 70 slaves that 30 of them were men in condition to work and of those 30 15 would join us.
That should be (theoretically) more than enough to sail both ships.
It may not be, but as of now we don't know how many of our own men actually died regarding a need to refill the ranks.
We don't know how many total sailors we need to sail both ships.
We don't even know if there are any slavers left.
Those are three points which - if they were answered - may have caused all these posts to be stillborn.
Since they weren't answered, we need to wait to hear from the GM.
Until that time, there's no reason to stress.
Meantime, Horatio didn't go into a lot of argument "in game".
I tried to write him to be away from that situation so if the GM says "Don't worry, there were no slavers left; just the escaped slaves" - Horatio could say "No need to ret-con; I never heard any of that stuff".
So at this point I guess we wait for the GM.
I got to say, though, I would have much rather we just got back to the rock. This whole business about recruiting slaver diabolists is just completely opposed to the alignment of a guy like Horatio.
I guess we'll see what happens later...

I am glad they are at least on the mend, and I'll say extra prayers for their safe recovery.
Meantime, at least tell your youngest niece that I'll send her LEGO fairies and ewoks to make them safe. Hopefully that should make them smile a little.

First and foremost good luck to Rain and Jiro for the upcoming weeks with medical issues. I hope everything goes smoothly and time passes quickly for you both. If your not available here don't worry and don't rush anything just for a game.
As far as the game is concerned though, I know Immortal said the captain and the 4 other fighters were hobgoblins, but no description on the rest of the crew. Likewise, as mentioned by others, not all of those who sailed under them may be evil heartless demon worshippers. It is only those that are akin to us and don't want to continue on as a life of slavers that Variel is approaching.
Right now we have 15 more crew, 4 plunder, and the equipment from the 5 we fought. This sum it up correctly Immortal?
Horatio Flynn
Variel, you are probably right about the full nature of the crew maybe not being hobgoblins (they may be other races, I don't know).
We know the chief officer was wearing demonic armor; but you're right - who knows about the rest?
As for the 15 people who joined us; we don't know if they're freed slaves who want to help us - or if they are slavers who have decided to sue for mercy after we conquered them.
As for the full details on if the 15 are freed men or slavers, that's up to the GM.
When we hear from the GM, we can go from there.
Personally I'm just hoping that the people who want to join us are all freed men.

Thanks, Variel and Adular. Insurance claim already in and being processed as police report confirmed the other driver was at fault. Car at mechanics and is being worked on and my dad was provided with a courtesy car in the meanwhile.

Sorry form the delay. Tooth got really bad today and apparently no dentist in the entire state of Maryland that is in my insurance works on Fridays. :-( took me six hours of phone calls to figure that out. Finally ended up going to urgent care to get antibiotics and pain meds. Will have something up when they kick in.
DM Immortal
Also glad to hear the family is alrightnrain. Seijiro good luck with the surgery...I don't pray but I will be confident in your doctors many years of experience and think good thoughts for you :-)
Seijiro
That's a little of what scares me - my surgeon's many years of experience. I don't know him all that well, but he is quite old... older than I am, and his reviews on the internet are all over the place... ranging from 'he's a butcher' to 'he's a saint with gifted hands', so I don't know what to think. Thanks for your good wishes though. They do mean a lot!
HOpe your antibiotics and pain meds kick in quick and you feel better soon!
DM Immortal
Thank you both. Seijiro, I am sure it will go well though I know how scary surgery can be. Think about it this way, if anything goes wrong, which I'm sure it won't, at least you'll be in a hospital. ;-) I have a pretty bad fear of flying so I developed a mantra that I say to myself and it always makes me feel better. The mantra is "Whatever will be...will be. Whatever will be...will be." It really does work.
Seijiro
I'm terrified of flying too. :) I have no mantra when I have to fly, I just have Xanax, lol... Perhaps I should take some before the surgery too... I should check with the doctor first and make sure it's okay... but it probably is okay to take it now, while surgery is still several days away. I'm already having sleepless nights worrying about the outcome...
DM Immortal
Hey everyone, sorry for the delay. Go ahead and rp your meetings and such tonight as I am in a rather extraordinary amount of pain and am taking things really easy. I have an appointment tomorrow morning so hopefully things will get worked out then. Again, apologies for all the delays the last couple of weeks. Just know this doesn't reflect at all on my interest in the game and I hope won't impact yours either.
Variel Nightstorm

No problem immortal. Good luck with the appointment and if somehow in a drug induced state you tell us we found 50000gp we won't hold it against you.
Seijiro
hope you are feeling better soon, Imm... take care... and I like Variel's idea - feel free to post anything that comes to mind while you are on your pain meds... haha...

?For you Immortal, how much in repair resources could we get from the Valatroika if we dismantle her? Of course assuming that this would only be in repair funds not in actual gp for other purchases. If it is something along the lines of 2000gp then we just wouldn't have to buy repair material for quite sometime. Or would it depend on a craft check?
Horatio Flynn
If your tooth still bothers you, I recommend munching on a nice tasty sleeve... it's a good way to fix a sore tooth, and a good way to nap ;)
Rain Taneththir
Before setting sail back to Windward Isle, Rain would have asked Flynn for her Amulet of Natural Armour and would have placed it around her neck again. Just putting it on here so it's all formal-like. ;)
Horatio Flynn
Impossible, Rain was on the other ship!
Meanwhile, it does feel awfully nice around my neck... la la la...
Of course, if you really had asked he would naturally have asked Horus to fly it over for you :)
Rain Taneththir
Rain asked for it after the battle ended and before she took the helm of the Valatroika. Flynn does not have it anymore. So no need for Horus to fly anything over. End of story. ;p
Horatio Flynn
No worries, it's all good.
I'll miss the +1 bonus to AC, but I'll get over it. Also, Horatio was happy to see you with it to begin with, as it clearly matches your eyes :)
Seijiro
Today is my birthday - going out to dinner and to see a movie - will be back later.
Seijiro
thank you :)
Horatio Flynn
Why Happy Birthday, Seijiro-san!
Or, if you prefer - O tanjō-bi omedetōgozaimasu!
At the least we shall fix a cake for you in game, and possibly a banana creme' pie for Tomo-chan as well :)
Seijiro
hehe :) and chill that pie with some prestidigitation... tomo likes his bananas cold ;) thanks for the birthday wishes.

Happy Birthday Jiro.
I saw somewhere that we had to pay off a debt of plunder to LAdy Agasta but I cant find it anywhere. Can someone point me to that so I make sure I get the updated loot list and ship correct. Thanks
Rain Taneththir
Variel, this all I discovered in relation to that:
Once Dhaavan speaks she smiles warmly and says I am glad to hear it and I think you will find me and Tidewater Rock very...accommodating. As for how a lordship works, I imagine it works the same way all of the other lands do...that is that the woman does most of the work and the man is there to look pretty. She laughs at this point and continues In all honesty your responsibilities will be slight. You would give a portion of your plunder to the coffers of the Rock while at the same time enjoying a safe and secure harbor and retainers upon which to serve you. The Rock itself would be completely at your disposal to use as you wish with one caveat, anything taken must be replaced should we choose to part ways after the year is up. In addition, I would not like for the defenses of the Rock to be removed in any event as that would defeat the purpose of having a safe harbor. I would like to say we had the money to buy your plunder but alas we are a very small enclave...important in our location...but small. I do have two things for you now though. She claps again and a long golden spyglass is brought in as well as a splendid breastplate done in pirate motif. The Farglass will allow you to see from the top of the Rock all the way into the shipping lanes nearby and allow you to strike at them with more alacrity. The armor is my late husbands Buccaneer Breastplate which will allow whomever wears it to walk on water so long as they wear it. Should we part ways, I would expect them back of course.
Unless Agasta mentioned the percentage to Dhaavan, he'd be the only one who knows. But I could not find such a posting unless it is under a spoiler.
Dhaavan
Imm, what's the percentage of Plunder we owe to the Rock? Rain makes a VERY good point... i have no idea what i just agreed to for the crew...=/
some flat rate, a point a month or some percent of what we find so it'll be less when we make less and more on good months?
and is that before expenses like supplies and paying the crew or after?
Variel Nightstorm
|
Something else to consider, I have not counted the cost of Adular's armor against him at this time because it is not ours. What does everyone else feel about that? Don't want Adular to be charged for it just to have him give it back to the Lady should Dhaavan mess around with the wrong woman.
Variel Nightstorm
|
Ok so taking off two plunder now. One for the rock and one for the crew. That still leaes us with 3. Thanks immortal.
Dhaavan
I think he can afford the charge, as I can sell off his current armor if he don't mind and turn a tasty profit on it, and he's only going to be dinged for half the cost of the Armor.
Although if we don't factor the armor into the loot it's not really coming out of party loot, and he'd be able to afford a headband, which we aught get him cause Caster.
so either way.
Variel Nightstorm
|
The spreadsheet is updated not counting the armor so just let me know what you all want.
Night all.
Variel Nightstorm

+1 heavy steel shield and +1 breastplate that allows you to walk on water.
Now good night for real this time. See you all tomorrow.
