It doesn't say.

The general rule (I believe) is that if an action is not stated in an ability assume it to be a Standard Action to use/activate it

I think there is such a rule, but don't know where it is listed.

also:Given a ship is an object, does this mean I can use it on a galleon mid-fight and let it ignore the penalties for being broken?
