Feats before you meet the requirements?

Rules Questions

Is that possible? Can I take a feat I don't meet all requirements for so I can benefit from it when I fulfill them later?

Sczarni

No. You have to meet all the prerequisites in order to take the feat.

The exception is "bonus feats" that certain classes get. Certain classes get to choose among certain feats when they reach a specific level. The most notable instances of this are the monk and the ranger, who each have a specific list of bonus feats that they do NOT need to meet the requirements for.

Read the list of everything your class gets to see if you qualify.

All right. Just making sure.
What bout feats whose requirements you can met temporary?

Say, natural weapon feat and you can create claws a few times a day?

Alot of DM's i think allow Pc's who can get claws a little bit to take weapon focus Claws. But by Raw in order to get a feat you need your buffs (wether gear or otherwise) to last more than 24 hrs.

So if i have a 12 str and wear a belt of stregth +2 i can learn power attack. But if i ever loose my belt i cannot use it.

The bull strength spell however since it only lasts minutes does not work.

There is a SKR quote somewhere on the board that says you can take weapon focus type feats for claws you only sometimes have.
I'm not sure about other natural weapon feats. As a GM I don't think I'd allow Improved Natural Attack to a weapon that had limited rounds usage per day.

So what bout the feat that allows for Claw Rend before any official clawed races were released, was that just for druids and shapeshifting?

But druid's shape didn't last 24hrs, so that's out?

For druids and for Dms that wanted to enhance monsters. And there are some archetypes and sorcerer bloodlines that give you claws too.

Also, the druids animal shape doesn't last that long, but the ability to assume animal forms sticks with the druid for the rest of his life. There is a subtle but crucial difference.

But once picked, the same applies to alchemist, barbarian and ranger, sure they have different times, but an alchemist at lvl 6 can hold his claws for one hour, and can make as many mutagens as he'd need daily.

The feat Rending Claws out in the same book as Aspect of the Beast. The feat that gives permanent claws.
So it is all Advanced Players.
