have 2 levels of Titan Mauler (Barbarian) class
and if you want to dual wield, also go the Two Weapon Warrior (Fighter) route until you have a total of 13 levels (11 in fighter) to have one of the weapons act as a light one
Of course you can also just take the weapon focus feats to remove the negative, but the more you level up as high BAB class(es) the small minus to the attack becomes less and less important. I do think it would be best to multiclass Titan Mauler and a specialized fighter archetype class of your choice that fits best your ideal image of abilities and weapon usage of your own char
edit: might have been 3 levels not 2, not sure

You wouldn't happen to be looking for a Pathfinder equivalent to 'Monkey Grip' would you?
If you are I would be interested also. There are several things that Pathfinder has done with things we were used to in 3.5 that just aren't the same anymore.
Cleave got better, but Vow of Poverty went by the wayside.
In my house rules we still have the ability to use some of the old feats. If you were to use old feats...Monkey Grip.

You don't have to change class and ignore fighter. Your player could level dip into being a Fighter (?) X/ Barbarian (Titan Mauler) 2. Unless your game is going straight to level 20 and your player also wants the full benefits of one particular classes, it would allow for a wider expanse on a per-existing character by level dipping.
If you are dead set on wanting your players to wield large weapons I may suggest looking at the Living Monolith prestige class from Osirion player guide as one example. First level benefit off the bat is the ability to thrice per day use Enlarge Person on yourself as a swift action. Whenever enlarge/reduce person is used it modifies your current equipment to fit and be wielded at your new size. So a medium human wielding a medium scythe is now a large human with a large scythe.
Other than the Tiefling option, prestige class option, or barbarian option; I don't know what else to tell you as it is not available as a feat option.
Believe me when I said I tried to make a fearsome kobold that could wield oversized weapons one time with great accuracy and ended up for one game as a Barbarian 6 (Titan Mauler) Kobold.

two extra ways of wielding oversized weapons (both requiring different races) are the half-giant from psionics unleashed (if your allowed to use that). its essentially an oversized human with the oversized weapons quality (called powerful build). the second is goblin gunslinger, use medium sized firearm without penalty. these are two side instances that I know of, but nothing lets you wield oversized weapons (sadly not even giant form). what we are really missing is this.... this hyperlink does not seem to be working.... its supposed to be d20srd.com, variant rules, building characters, bloodline, titan. the titan bloodline gave you use oversized weapon as a extraordinary ability by around lvl 12. but it was like a 3 level dip. I miss alot of those old bloodline abilities, especially troll :(
edit edit; here is the cashe version.Bloodlines just scroll down to titan
