Can you choose to do less damage? Any modifiers?

Rules Questions

There are rules to take -4 to your attacks to do non-lethal damage, but what if you still want to do lethal damage, but less?

So if say you do 1d8+3 damage, could you instead just do 1 point of damage to "pull" your attack?

Ad hoc GM ruling: was to just split the difference and take a -2 circumstance bonus to your attack to do minimum lethal damage.

I would even put it at the full -4.

Or maybe have the PC able to not add strength to damage.

I would say just make it so they drop their str mod to hit and damage as an option

strictly RAW? no so it would be purely a GM house rule at that point.

Comes down to house ruling. But I've always viewed it as this, you can pull a punch, but it tends to not be as fast or hit as hard either. So if you want to voluntarily lower your str/dex for an attack you can certainly go ahead and do so. You only get what ever bonuses to your BAB/Damage that your character is willing to commit. You still have to roll the weapon damage but you apply what ever acting str/dex/abilities you are using.
