Alchemists with infusion and Haste

Rules Questions

How does this work exactly?

Without the infusion its pretty simple, the alchemist can only cast it on himself.

If the alchemist uses infusion to make a 'fake potion' its obvious, its a temporary potion of haste. Glug and go.

But can the alchemist 'cast' infusion on multiple party members? Shake up the test tube of lime and baking soda and spray the contents around? Use a seltzer bottle?

Nope, infusions are just potions that others can drink. And which don't really follow the restrictions of potions. I give my party fighter an infusion of enlarge person, and sometimes the archer one of haste. Alch can't affect more than one with infusions.

Thats what i thought too, but then i was looking over this.

Intent was that when an alchemist uses an infusion, he can do one of 2 things:

1) Cast the spell as an infusion, then carry it around or give it to someone else to use.

2) Cast the spell as an infusion on a legal target as a standard action (effectively replacing the "drinks the infusion himself" part with "anoints or doses the target with the infusion").

I don't think that distinction came across in the rules, so I'm not sure how far it goes.

The legal target is still restricted to only one target as all potions are. I can see the confusion tho

I really hate that alchemists get so screwed over because the designers decided to make them "sort of casters." Freaking Summoner not only gets to multitarget haste, he gets it a level earlier! Cause Summoner is clearly more transmutation-focused than alchemist... And even when you pay a feat tax on Infusion, you still can't use the spell as well as any other caster...

I have nothing helpful to add, I just feel like venting. Don't get me started on the inexplicable lack of 0-level extracts. Because drinking something and getting detect magic or message is so much more farfetched than any of the other spells-as-extracts that are official...
