Liberty's Edge

I won a Corvid-Blooded boon at Diecon this weekend allowing me to create a PFS tengu character. I was not aware that this was a option but I will take it. Anyway, I have looked up the stats and am looking for some suggestions for the character. The tengu get a +2 to Dex and Wis and a -2 to Con. This leads me to ranger or cleric but I already play with those classes and what to do something special with this great option. So, any advice on the class and maybe a back story.

Tengu can make pretty good Rogues, Monks and Druids too. Having access to things like bastard sword or Elven Curve Blade gives one interesting options.

If you have the Advanced Race Guide you get several interesting options. Going a purely unarmed rogue character has potential (2 claws and 1 bite). While your base damage is pretty poor (D3) you get 3 primary attacks all with sneak attack damage.

I haven't played it yet, but I've theory crafted a Rogue. Str 13, Dex 19
Gets weapon finesse, Dodge, Crane Style, eventually takes Power attack. It will end up with an obscene AC to (mostly) obviate the poor hit points and, assuming a flanking buddy, will do a quite respectable amount of damage.

My back stories usually involve the character coming from one of the Dragon Empires and doing lots of travelling. Might as well take advantage of Gifted Linguist :-)

There's some amazing stuff for Tengu in Advanced Races Guide, including the ability to shapechange into a human for extra strength, use wings for a limited period per day and even gain claw attacks.

If you took the racial trait for claw attacks you could end up with a really neat natural attack race for the Fighter (brawler) archetype, along with boosting your peck attack damage and (again) selecting Crane Style to help you with your lower hit points.

After playing a Arcane Duelist Tengu Bard with a curveblade and a dex focus, I also really rate that option.
