What is everyones favorite Illusion Spells?

I would like to try some new tactics and need some ideas.

Cast Inception!!!

My favourite is Major image. The cool part about it, unlike the low level ones, is that you can move the image within its range. That means that with a single casting of Major Image you can have an illusion of anything you want for the entire day :)

You can ride a horse, and make it look like you are a troop of cavalry. For an entire day! That's just good value!

Liberty's Edge

It's an illusion, Michael..

I find that the best illusions are the creative ones. I can't tell you how many times the spell silent image (wall) has been used. Bluff the archers by making a wall, bull rush an enemy into a wall behind them, if they fail a will save they go prone, block vision, hide from enemies, the list goes on.

Silent Image is a crowd favorite. Creatures don't get a save unless they directly interact with it, and your allies get a +4 to save against it if you include some sort of signal to let them know you're casting an illusion (such as shouting "muffins" before or after your spell). This can give you a tactical advantage. For example...

Gnome Illusionist: "Muffins!! Magmor destu nerines walloroo!!"
*a giant wall of stone seems to appear touching his allies and extending beyond them to some degree.*

At this point the gnome's allies immediately save vs the illusion at +4. If they do, they can see through the illusion. However, to the archers on the other side of the battlefield, your entire party has total concealment (they're behind a bigass stone wall), and unless they come interact with the wall, won't be seeing through it.

Then of course there are the classics like blur, displacement, mirror image, and so forth. Silent image is probably my favorite though. It lasts as long as you care to spend standard actions on it. I've had groups stop and rest in areas and use silent image to create an illusory wall or other scenery around them to hide (such as making a hillside look like it's longer than it is, with them inside the hollowed section) while they rested.

I had never even considered the benefits of using illusions. And I'm a huge fan of gnomes. Can you imagine? I'm thankful for this thread.

To contribute a little, I'm also a fan of prestidigitation. Adding taste (and odor if GM allows) might go away to strengthening an illusion. Added tip if your DM is a champ: If you're a small sized creature then your cloak will probably fit into a cubic foot, which means you'll be able to color, soil, or clean it, and perhaps make it more effective camouflage. This also means you could add odor to a sheet, and place it within the illusion to give it some odor and increase a will save against it. In theory, at least. As I said, I've never actually used illusions, or seen anyone else use illusions.

Well my first boss encounter in Serpent Skull, I cast Mirror Image. So I rolled a 4 out of 1d4 +2 and had 6 images of myself. It threw off the bosses summoned monsters when they bit into thin air while I safely blasted away.

I am defiantly going to look into Silent Image and Major Image.

We (Players and GM) have had fun casting Silent Image over pits or extending mountain ledges, that kind of thing. Ahhh. Good times.
