Can it be done?

Last I checked you needed a slashing or bludgeoning weapon to sunder. EDIT: But after checking, that is no longer the case. Yes, you can. EDIT 2: Specifically, the game notes under breaking and entering (additional rules) that smashing an object is done using the Sunder combat maneuver and is done using either a slashing or bludgeoning weapon. However the sunder combat maneuver makes no such distinction. The 3.5 sunder required a slashing or bludgeoning weapon to make sunder attempts. Ergo, it seems that the reference to slashing/bludgeoning is a holdover and has no real effect in Pathfinder because it's not longer part of sundering (which smashing an object is).

Ergo, yes, you can break stuff with piercing weapons. Adamantine piercing weapons are apparently the best piercing weapons for the job.

Oh, goodie, goodie, gumdrops. That makes me a happy little adventurer.

EDIT: That's what I thought, but because I saw no such clause under the Sunder entry, I figured I could. I just wanted to make sure. Now my Better-than-a-Duelist just picked up a new, lovely little trick.

This also means that you can break stuff with arrows. Ranged weapons deal 1/2 damage vs objects, but otherwise adamantine arrows can tear stuff apart pretty good (ignoring most hardness really). Keep a few adamantine arrows and an abundant ammunition spell handy and you could shoot down a wall given some time.

Bwahahahahahahahah! Don't give me ideas...

Ideas are what I do best. I do GM almost exclusively afterall. :)

And as a frequent player (and becoming more frequent GM) I always appreciate folks that put up with the nutjobs like me and help everyone to have a fantastically fun time.

I tip my hat to you for your service to your players. (And for giving me terrible, wonderful, ideas.)

Much obliged. PM me and ask about my pointy hat trick sometime. You'd probably get a kick out of it.

Sadly, you can only sunder in melee unless you have a special ability that says otherwise (such as from the archer archetype for fighter).

I suppose you could shoot unattended objects without any trouble though.

He could also stab the weapon with the arrow.

Unsure of the effectiveness... but you can :)

While my "Duelist" is perfectly content sundering with his rapier, I don't think he'd be silly enough to try to sunder with an arrow...

Then again... He does try some seriously wacky things sometimes... (swing-attacking from the chandelier anyone?)

The rules are weird. It first says that attacking an object is like a sunder attempt. It however then says you can attack objects with ranged weapons and give you an armor class (instead of combat maneuver defense).
