Kitsune and bite

Rules Questions

"Natural Weapons (Ex): In her natural form, a kitsune has a bite attack that deals 1d4 points of damage." -arg

Do I add dex or str to the 1d4? Or is it just a straight 1d4 with no bonuses?

Strength.

You add your STR to all melee damage rolls. The only caveat is primary natural attacks add the full STR bonus, and secondary attacks only add 1/2 STR to damage.

To put it simply: if you are only attacking with your bite, you add your full STR bonus to your damage (so 1d4 + STR mod). If you are attacking with, say, a kukri and THEN your bite, you only add half of your STR bonus (1d4 + 1/2 STR mod) and you take a -5 to the bite attack (as it is a secondary, natural attack).

Since the kitsune only has one natural attack, i believe they would get 1 1/2 times strength if all they did was bite.

If a creature has only one natural attack, it is always made using the creature's full base attack bonus and adds 1-1/2 times the creature's Strength bonus on damage rolls. This increase does not apply if the creature has multiple attacks but only takes one

Oh! My bad. BigNorseWolf is correct.

Cool, thanks everyone for answering.

You really have to go out of your way to get dex to damage.
Even then, it's a few choice weapons, in particular cases.
