Agile Weapon + Dragon Style / Dragon Ferocity

Rules Questions

Dragon Style says:
"Further, you can add 1-1/2 times your Strength bonus on the damage roll for your first unarmed strike on a given round."

Dragon Ferocity says:
"While using Dragon Style, you gain a bonus on unarmed strike damage rolls equal to half your Strength bonus."

Agile Weapon Property (applied via Amulet of Mighty Fists) says:
"Agile weapons are unusually well balanced and responsive. A wielder with the Weapon Finesse feat can choose to apply her Dexterity modifier to damage rolls with the weapon in place of her Strength modifier. This modifier to damage is not increased for two-handed weapons, but is still reduced for off-hand weapons."

Do you determine the strength bonus from the feats before the entirety of the bonus is changed to DEX by agile? Do you get 1.5x Dex on the first strike plus .5x STR on all strikes? Or, is Dragon Style completely incompatible with Agile Weapon and you can either choose 1xDEX on the first strike OR 1.5xSTR and gain .5xSTR across the board regardless?

The entire concept behind the Agile Weapon Property is that it uses dexterity instead of strength. Thus: you can choose to use your Dragon feats to boost your bonus strength damage OR you can use Agile. Not both. They are incompatible. You will not get bonus strength damage at the same time as you get bonus dexterity damage.

Aw, that's sad for my fledgling ninja/monk of many styles unarmed+natural weapons concept xP

I do believe you still get the half Str on all attacks regardles but I dont have anything other than the fact that its a bonus on the end to back it up.

Dragon Style specifies strength bonus on your first attack.
Dragon Ferocity specifies a damage bonus equal 1/2 of your strength bonus.

Agile Property specifies that it replaces the strength modifier to damage rolls with the dexterity modifier.

By RAW, I can see an argument for the following:
While using Agile, Dragon Style is no good.
While using Agile, Dragon Ferocity MIGHT still apply the damage bonus since the bonus is an untyped damage bonus 'based on 1/2 the strength modifier'.

However, to me the RAI is clear that anything derived from strength bonus to damage is not used when using Agile. If I were you, I would bump this up to James Jacobs for his opinion.

Talonhawke, if you call the Dragon Ferocity damage bonus a 'half strength bonus' the Agile property would clearly override it. It is only because the damage bonus is an unspecified bonus that is derived from 1/2 strength that it even has a prayer of not being overriden by agile.

It still seems like an argument could be made that Dragon Style applies first, increasing the damage bonus on the attack from 1x to 1.5x, then Agile kicks in changing it from STR modifier to DEX modifier? Is there anything I'm missing that shows why it wouldn't work that way?

Dragon Ferocity, as noted, is an untyped strength bonus and seems like it'd be based on strength one way or another, just wondering about Dragon Style here.

Edit: How does one "bump" a post up to James Jacobs? o.o

To my understanding, Dragon Style is less of a question than Dragon Ferocity is. Dragon Style is clearly a strength modifier to damage thus is replaced by Agile. Dragon Style does not remove the normal strength modifier. It simply changes it from 1x to 1.5x (just like 2handed weapons). This is then replaced by Agile which drops it back to 1x.

By posting the question in this thread. Use this power wisely :D

JJ is not a developer, and his opinion doesn't always fly at all tables.

Just so you know.

BBT, that is why I stated 'his opinion'. :D

James Jacobs is not the developer in most cases but he is the best opinion we have until and unless a developer responds.

I am so seeing the new movie. Cobra Commander in full helmeted glory, and Bruce Willis? I am stoked.
