(Greater) Magic Weapon on Cold Iron?

Rules Questions

I'm surprised I couldn't find anything here on this, it's probably really obvious and I'm just missing it...

Greater Magic Weapon and Magic Weapon bestow bonuses on weapons temporarily, I'm wondering if since Cold Iron is much harder to enchant (hence the 2000 gp extra) it is harder or impossible to cast the magic weapon spells on a weapon made of cold iron.

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Doesn't say you can't.

All the rule says is what you've posted, and all it says is they are harder to enchant.

Casting Magic Weapon on a weapon is not the same as enchanting it. The two work very differently. As such, the clause on enchanting Cold Iron weapons does not apply to th Magic Weapon spell.

OK well thats 2 from 2 saying its all legit :)

I think there's a lot to be said for not inferring one mechanic over the top of another. If the Magic Weapon spell doesn't call out CI as a problem, we don't need to get wrapped up in Enchantment rules to find a reason to make it so :)

Yeah, my assumption was that it would work, I just wanted to double-check, because the character I'm concerned for is an oracle who is depending on greater magic weapon for enhancements due to a GM giving very meager money for the level of the characters, and I didn't want to take a cold iron weapon (for DR) if it was going to be hard to use greater magic weapon on.
