Light a fire / torch

Rules Questions

Hey guys,

just looking for some feedback. How long would you (as DM) say it takes to light a fire and approx 2 torches. I ruled it at 3 rounds (in combat).
Is this a bit too harsh, or too lenient?

Also: What damage would you say a flaming torch does when swung?
I figured -4 to attack (improvised), D3 from wood and D6 from fire?

There are rules for using torches as weapons.

Quote:
A torch used in combat is treated as a one-handed improvised weapon that deals bludgeoning damage equal to that of a gauntlet of its size, plus 1 point of fire damage.

But there is a feat that increases the normal damage the torch deals. But only followers of asmodeus may take it:

Benefit: You treat a torch as a light weapon that deals bludgeoning damage equal to that of a light mace of its size, plus 1 point of fire damage, and you do not incur penalties as you would for using it as an improvised weapon.

The Tindertwig allows you to light a torch as a standard actions, which normally is a full round action.
The time consumed for a fire, would depend on the size.
Three rounds to light a bonfire, together with two torches sounds reasonable to me.

Damage: "A torch does not increase the light level in normal light or bright light. If a torch is used in combat, treat it as a one-handed improvised weapon that deals bludgeoning damage equal to that of a gauntlet of its size, plus 1 point of fire damage."

So the damage is d3 (+1 fire).

Even with a tinderbox... move action to get it out of pouch. Standard action to light. Next round move action to equip torch(or part of move if +1BAB or better)
Move action for the other folks to light off of lit torch/fire.

So 1 or 1.5 rounds.

If you were going for bonfire, add an extra round or two for it to be fully up to raging size. but the character would be free to do other things...

If there was combat you might have the character make a Dex check so that the melee around him doesn't distract but only if there are enemies up close?
