The Cost of a spell from a vendor.

Rules Questions

I'm having trouble trying to figure out the cost of a spell scroll if I wanted to buy one from a vendor.

I keep seeing this: "caster lvl x spell lvl x 10gp"; but that's for having an NPC cast a spell for you as a service. I've also seen "spell level X 50gp" for copying a spell from another Spell book.

But how much is a single scroll that I can use to copy a spell from?

caster level x spell level x 25gp (plus any material or focus component costs)

You can find it in the Magic Item chapter of the Core rulebook.

That doesn't even make sense.

So as I get better at being a Wizard, a level 1 spell costs more?

Nope. You can voluntarily reduce your effective caster level to the minimum required to cast the spell when crafting scrolls and, when purchasing, you assume the minimum unless specified otherwise.

No, it is the caster level on the scroll that is used for the price of the scroll, not yours. So, if you wanted a 3rd level spell you would pay 3(spell level)x5(min caster level for 3rd level spell)x25gp for a total of 375gp for the spell

Ahh, ok...thanks.

Seraph.... don't expect a lot of logic or common sense in the magic item creation rules.... It will just make your head hurt.
