Shocking grasp and a miss

Rules Questions

If a magus uses spell combat; casting shocking grasp, misses with the free attack, does he still get the +3 to hit from the shocking grasp with the standard attacks he has left? (untill he hits of course)

You mean vs. people wearing metal armor? Thats only for the attack that's delivering the shocking grasp.

Right it is vs metal. The only reason I ask is because if you miss the free attack you can still discharge the spell with one of the other attacks. I was just woundering if you kept the +3 till the spell was gone or if it was for just the free attack.

Possibly.

If he misses with the free touch attack granted from casting Shocking grasp, he can hold the charge.

If he's holding the charge, he can use Spellstrike to deliver the spell with his weapon. If he chooses the do so, he would get the +3 to hit (vs metal weapon/armor) until the spell is discharged.

A strict DM could rule that you don't get to hold the charge until after the round in which the touch spell was cast. I would be astonished if anyone actually ruled that way at a table, though.

I, however, find myself less and less astonished as time goes by. :/
