Kitsune in Society?

Advice

So, I got a Kitsune Boon sheet at KublaCon recently. I am also going to need to make a new level 1 character in about 3 weeks. I am trying to decide what class to play.

I know that Ninja seems pretty obvious, +2 dex +2 cha -2 str, so I guess a finesse build would work. Especially with the extra bite attack.

However, one of the cool things kitsune get is a handful of feats that let you 1: turn into a fox, 2: do it as a swift, 3: charge as a fox and shift into a person and full attack.

Unfortunatlely, these feats need a BaB of +3, +6, and +10, respectively. Basically, you couldn't get many of these cool feats as a 3/4 base attack character like the Ninja. I would feel like I am wasting some cool feats if I didn't get them.

So, what should I do? Maybe some kind of ranged character? Are there any cool Paladin ranged builds?

Let me know your ideas!

Urban Babarian. You can focus on natural attacks and later get an Agile AoMF, or go Devish Dance.

Zen Monk? You get most of your archery feats as your bonus feats anyway, so taking the racial feats isn't slowing your damage progression down as much as it would in most archery builds.

If I take 1 level of Ranger and the Natural Weapon style, I could take the Aspect of the Beast feat and get 2 claw attacks. That could be fun if I then went ninja, I guess.

I think the Zen Archer gets to use Wisdom as their attack stat, so not quite as optimized for dex.

Fey Bloodline sorcerer, for the lulz.

Eldritch Heritage into Arcane sorcerer, grab a fox familiar, and now no one knows which fox is you, and which is your familiar.

It's a real pity that Natural Spell specifically calls out wild shape...

The WIS thing doesn't kick in till level 3 so that plus 2 will get you through.

Kitsune seem like natural bards to me. That doesn't help with the racial pounce feats though.

when in doubt go fighter.

love the class because basically allows you to build what ever you want with all those feats. ... sucks for skills but then again if your not min/maxing you can allways take traits and feats that add to your skills, get a high int for more skill points or simply focus on a specific kind of fighter (with one or two level dips for specific abilities.)

I was at Kubla... should have turned in my chips in order to get something like this. I dont do society much. may as well play something cool when I do ^_^

Played a Kitsune bard once, it was awesome until the GM decided to start killing us off (seriously they told me in private later, we don't game with them now). Bard and Ninja are my votes (:

I'm playing a kitsune bard in a home campaign right now, and I'm really loving how it's working out. The charisma bonus and "Gregarious" racial trait really suit the class well. :)

I might would also recommend the Mysterious Stranger archetype of the gunslinger, if you're cool with that class. Your grit points are charisma-based, rather than wisdom, and you get to spend a grit point to add your charisma modifier to all firearm attacks you make until the end of your turn. Combine that with a pepperbox and you're golden. :D

I'd also like to take a moment to say... I'm so very jealous of you for getting this cert! I've loved kitsune as mythological creatures since I was young, and when I heard that they were coming out as a playable race with the ARG I was ecstatic. So you can imagine I was crushed when I found out they weren't Society legal... I hope to get that cert one day, if/when I can afford to go to a con AND get the chance to GM enough to qualify. Until then, I hope you enjoy getting to be vulpine, regardless of your class choice. :)

To the poster below: it's only a month old, seriously. :p

Holy necro, Batman!

A bumbing a week old thread is not necromancy, replying to a question asked two years ago is. And it's "Boy Wonder" by the way. ;)

Natural Weapon Ranger, or even Barbarian sounds funny and flavorful, maybe try that? Anyhow, a Kitsune Samurai might be fun. Making a TWF build(first level as fighter perhaps) and focusing on wakizashis. Combine that with the Order of the Cockatrice as your allegiance of choice to take advantage of kitsune's natural presence via Dazzling Display and challenge ability sounds pretty good.

Ronin is a better fit in flavor, since what else are kitsunes but dedicated wanderers, but Cocktratrice tempts me more.

Whoops, read the date as the year (thought it was 2011). My bad.

I'm enjoying my kitsune ranger quite a bit. I haven't gotten to the pounce level yet, only 4th level, but the fox shape is great for scouting.
