We are currently near the end of chapter 2 in an adventure path, and I am considering changing characters.
Originally there were five characters, cleric, ranger, barbarian, rogue and sorcerer. A nicely balanced party.
The ranger and barbarian died (stupidly!) but we had one scroll of raise dead so the barbarian was brought back, the ranger buried in the woods and I brought in an inquisitor. That gave us supplemental healing, tracking, some monster knowledge and a tank (he took heavy armor proficiency).
Well the rogue's player (and character) left, and then the cleric's player (and character) left near the end of chapter 1. I brought in a 2nd character at the DMs request to round out the party so now we have the original barbarian, sorcerer, my inquisitor and an NPC ranger/rogue.
I would like to play only one character so I am thinking of having the inquisitor and ranger/rogue leave. What character class should I bring in? I find the lack of a full divine caster disturbing. A bow cleric with animal domain and boon companion? An oracle? A druid? Only allowed the Core rulebook and APG, although the DM said ok to the boon companion feat. Also this is a first time DM and he is somewhat inexperienced on adjusting encounters on the fly so the character has to be able to dish out damage as well as heal.

Elf druid archer, with wardog animal companion with barding. That way you have a healer and a tank (dog), can use archery (Rapid Shot is fun with produce flame), summoning, battlefield control, blasting, tank yourself with buffs and wildshape, and make an excellent scout with Perception + elven bonus + high Wisdom.
Paladins are good healers, as are witches. Life Oracles are pretty potent healers as well.

I'd say stay with the inquisitor... you could even get a wand of knock (it's on his spell list) and take over the rogue role mostly (good wisdom and put ranks in perception.
You can share one of your judgements through a spell (lend judgement).
Why is it disturbing to not have a full divine caster? If the barbarian needs a lot of healing during combat, you are in trouble anyways and are better of tanking yourself. Maybe talk to the barbarian's player so he finds a way to boost his barbarian's defense?

Thank you all for the suggestions.
I think perhaps I might stay with my current Inquisitor. He has a lion animal companion, and I forgot that there are a lot of very useful spells on his list that I can either get scrolls or low charge wands. I could also ask the DM if I could swap out one of my two traits for Vagabond Child (I think), that gives Disable Device as a Class Skill.
