Skinsaw Murders (The terrible stairs)

Quick small question, Well actually two.

1. Do The Stairs go clock or counter-clockwise?

2. Is it correct that from 3rd to 4th floor there is a hugge gab from one end of The room to The other?

1. They go counter-clockwise.

2. I had a hard time figuring out the maps, so I re-drew them. Actually, I use MapTool, so I end up re-drawing just about every map anyway.

I added a couple of traps (broken steps), and places a 15-foot gap in the staircase. I also had a second set of Xanesha's mooks (actually vampire spawn) harass the party about halfway up.

For these sorts of questions, I found rlucci's 3D map of the tower very helpful. It may not be absolutely identical to the original maps, but it's very close.

Actually, the stairs go up on a clockwise fashion. When an arrow points down (red) it means that's where you're coming from. The yellow arrow points to up.

What I'm trying to figure out is what the different shading means in some of the E2 areas, extending past the stairs.

The question if there is a piece of the stairs missing altogether, in the 2nd and 3rd part of the E2 map, stands unanswered as far as I could discern on these boards. Maybe my google-fu is weak, but are there missing parts, as the maps seem to indicate?
