Feather Token: Tree & Transport via Plants?

Rules Questions

So I'm a druid stuck in the deep dark cave and my party is wounded and out of spells and ammo.

No worries I can just drop my Feather Token: Tree and cast Transport via Plants and TA DA! We are back at the Shire!

Is this allowed?

Will this work as described?

I'd allow it.

I used that tactic myself in a 3.0 game several years ago.

Getting back could be a problem though: in an underground dungeon with a stone floor and no sunlight, that oak tree isn't going to live very long. A couple of days, max.

And, you'd have to plant in in a place that's large enough to accommodate it. (i.e. needs a 60-ft ceiling).

I don't see any reason why not!

The only caveat would be that the tree token generates an oak tree, so you would need to Transport to somewhere else with an oak.

If a DM wanted to be restrictive, I could see an argument being made for having "magical oak created by a tree token" as a separate type of tree, so that you would only be able to jump from one tree token oak to another, but not to some random oak tree somewhere else. I personally think that is a bit much, though.
