Mounts plus tumble

How can a mounted character use tumble to avoid attacks of opp. Can he use mounted combat the negate the attack at the same time??? This is a odd question. Do the character and mount need to roll tumble or just one check. Can that character use mounted combat to negate the possible hit as well??

They can probably just roll acrobatics like everyone else, but i'd make the horse lose the movement. (ie, 2 per square) so no doing that on a charge.

Nothing specifically says he can't, and they're both non actions (or parts of other actions)

If you had a mount that could avoid AoO (like a druid in horse shape with the acrobatics skill or an eidolon mount) they'd each have to roll separately.
