Arcane Blast feat

Rules Questions

As a standard action, you can sacrifice a prepared spell or unused spell slot of 1st level or higher and transform it into a ray, targeting any foe within 30 feet as a ranged touch attack.

Does the target get a saving throw from the converted spell or is there no save?

Can you use Shot on the Run with Arcane blast?

There is no save. The spell you convert has absolutely no influence on the feat other than it's spell level.

...You can probably use shot on the run with it.

That's a lot of feats for a fairly weak feat, so there shouldn't be any issues.

Yeah, the spell you use doesn't have its normal effects. If you convert Hold Person into a ray and hit, you don't get to paralyze the target. You're not casting the spell, you're consuming it as fuel.

That said, it's a ranged attack like any other ray, so I'd imagine Shot on the Run does work with it.

It Does creat untyped damage so no energy resistance there.
It doesn't seam to be effected by spell resistane since it's not a spell.
There doesn't seam to be any save.
And once again it's not a spell so no globe of invonerability.
It maybe week numbers wise, but if you take into account alot of creaters that a level 10 character will encounter seem to have good saves resistances and even immunities, id say its not a bad back up for a ray focused spell caster. Heck even a magus could use it with the close range arcana and spell strike with it.

O and as far as the shoot on the run thing goes,
shoot on the run is a full round action,
arcane blast is a standard action,
you can not take a standard action as part of a full round action unless the fra states so.
Shoot on the run uses your highest bab granted ranged attack not, any standard action.
So, i have to disagree and say no you can't.
But thats my opinion and i'm often wrong.
