Point Blank Attack and Whip?

Rules Questions

Just a short question before game start but is a whip enough of a ranged attack to benefit from pint blank shot?

By RAW I believe not. Whips aren't ranged weapons, they are reach weapons. The mechanics are different.

As a house rule, I suppose you could rule that whips are sorta like ranged attacks, and therefore benefit from point blank shot... but then someone's gonna want the same benefit for a spiked chain or a halberd...

Just not worth the trouble I don't think. There are other ways to boost whip attacks using standard melee feats.

By RAW no. Like Adamantine Dragon said it's a reach weapon. Point-blank shot only applies to actual ranged weapons which leave the owners hand/weapon that fires them.

The only part of the ranged weapons rules that affects whip, and all other reach weapons, are the rules for cover and concealment, IIRC.

I dunno, could I get a +1 Seeking whip? Would that pretty much negate the benefits of blind-fight?

Darn-it, now I am thinking of a "cursed" item.

A +1 seeking, returning, vicious whip. You crack it out and it rebounds and smacks you in the head for the same damage.
