Help? How to quiet a gunslinger

Advice

Grand Lodge

hey folks, other than an oil of silence or the silence spell, is there any way to quiet a gunslinger for an extended period that doesn't hose the party?

Thanks!

Have him carry a bow for stealth missions. Done.

Agreed Jiggy, as much as this may hurt your dps sometimes you have to be silent. If your really worried about damage buy a wand of gravity bow

Already pitched that and he started whining and moaning about how we might as well just leave him at home.

With great touch attacks comes great responsibility. Tell him to man up.

Then do so. Big damn heroes shouldn't be whining about circumstances not always playing exactly to their personal strengths.

Make a custom item? Make a silencer, that works just like the oil of silence only make it permanent.

Make a new weapon quality and give it a + equivalent. +1 seema reasonable. Still pretty costly, since he's possibly forgoing better abilities, but that should address the player's/group's needs, and game balance.

Perhaps a Dull grey ioun stone with a permanent silence spell cast upon it.

Okay, I'll try to be helpful... he can always pick up a wand of Zone of Silence. Provided his character is the Mysterious Stranger archetype, he should be able to get good UMD rolls on it. The best part is, if he's STILL whining about it (probably the fact that the wand will cost 30,000 gold), you won't hear a word of it as no sound can be heard past 5 feet of his location.

The permanency for silence should cost about 5,000 gp, slap it on a Dull Grey Ioun Stone, and bam, silence when needed.

There was a dagger of silence I think in the Magic Item Compendium for 22k and change. I think it would be perfectly reasonable to allow a gun with the same "unique" enchantment for 20k (the +1 accounts for the rest of the cost)

He can chuck up 250 gold for some oil of silence whenever he needs to be silent. You might be lenient on him and let him divide up the amount of time oil of silence provides into non-consecutive minutes depending on how much oil he applies at once.

Does the party have an Alchemist?

Let him figure it out, it's on the player to play well. A good DM will work with him to make the solution work, but if he's going to be a little "b" about it and cry then let him wallow in his self pity and his lack of guns.

If he takes some initiative he's being a good player.
