What to do if "We be goblins!" ends in a TPK?

Jade Regent

Liberty's Edge

I ran "We Be Goblins!" as the prelude to a JR campaign. Unfortunately, Vorka got the best of my goblin PC's, with a frog, a dog and herself all taking shots. I'm trying to figure out how to handle this since my players have said that they didn't want to play a second goblins sent to retrieve the fireworks. Also, I had Scribbleface survive at the beginning of the module, so he's potentially also in play (I want to get him allied up with the PC's). Any thoughts/suggestions?

Vorka's tough. My goblins managed to get everything but her, and she escaped after running out of spells. They lived, but there were plenty of tense moments and a couple ran into the negs.

Drop it and start JR, if you ask me.

I would go on and start that Jade Regent game, and then have Scribbleface be the one who then went in to pick up after the PC goblins failed; he's the one in this case who got the goblins their fireworks. And in this case, you can use Vorka and her lair as an additional encounter for your Jade Regent game... and you can even give the Jade Regent PCs a chance to find and loot their Goblin PCs' bodies!

Um ... cannibal. ;)

Thanks for the advice. It worked well. They're teamed up with Scribbleface. Sun Kaijitsu met with him the first night in town, as she was practicing her sorcery on the edge of town. She agreed to help him kill the leader, so that the Licktoad tribe wouldn't get exterminated. The party got Shaelelu to come with them in the morning, and boy was she upset when she found out they would be working with a goblin, and sparing the tribe.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I'm seriously impressed that not only the other players but the game's writer comes on to offer good advice! Way to engage your player base, James! Kudos.

What a nice change from... uh, some companies I could mention...

(About to run JR as my first PF game, but I want to run the goblin one now..!)

Anlerran, "We Be Goblins!" is a really good one-shot that flows excellently into Jade Regent. I highly recommend looking at some of the Jade Regent play-by posts here on paizo and elsewhere. I haven't followed anyone completely, but it's an excellent way to get other DM's ideas about the campaign. Here are the threads I would recommend: http://paizo.com/campaigns/DMNomadSagesJadeRegentNightOfFrozenShadows

And we all know from playing Skyrim, that if you can find a bone or decapitated head of a creature, you can access their entire inventory...
