Firearm damage boost

I am creating a musket wielding Inquisitor. Are there some firearm boosting options that do not involve gunslinger levels?

Since Ultimate Combat was the last book to come out not many.

I assume you're taking the Black Powder Inquisition?

There are a few Inquisitor spells within Ultimate Combat that help with damage.

Rapid Reload (UC version) and Alchemical Cartridges will lower your reload time to a move action, so without 3 levels of Musket Master that's your best load time.

Amateur Gunslinger feat may also be good to have, as you'll have grit and one 1st level deed.

We'll have to wait for more core books to see if they come up with a gun-toting inquisitor archetype.

No, I will be worshiping Cixyron, who's favored weapon is the musket. I will be taking a channel granting domain, so I can get channel smite and guided hand, to use my wisdom for attack rolls.

I am sure deadly aim helps.

If you use a double barrel musket you can pretty much get many shot with each attack. -4 to hit can be steep early but later that's an extra dice of dmg

Grand Lodge

How would the double musket interact with channel smite? Would it add the extra damage to each barrel? I was intending to get my musket as a Consecrated Weapon, to use channel for extra damage.
Isn't ten feat a bit short though?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I would assume it would only add to one barrel. The way I've read it by using it as many shot, only one gets the bonus when you crit but now that I think of it, isn't smite for every attack till the opponent is defeated? So in that case each shot would. I use it on my pistoleer and with rapid shot and firing each barrel, for a -6 with each shot I can do 4d8+28 at 6th

Grand Lodge

Getting a Consecrated Weapon is like getting channel smite for free. If you have a channel user, look up channel foci.
What about Reckless Aim to offset the attack penalty? Would it be worth it?

I've never seen reckless aim till now and lol it would work. Since on a missile you don't shoot anyways. The real question is what level will you be? At a 7/7 to hit I barely ever miss. So if your a higher level you probably don't need it but early on I could see it working very well with precise shot. I'm on my phone so I can only look at one thing at a time. I'll check the channel now

From how I read it I would say only the first shot but bane would work on each shot and those extra d6 would add up

Blackblood I am sure I am just missing this but how did you get channel energy ?

Black blood we same to have the same character designs. I use a musket and the damage boosts are Weapon specialization enchantment deadly aim, and that is about it. i am so tired of bad damage that my next 3-5 levels may be gunslinger just to add my dex to damage. you could go mysterious stranger and add cha to damage. i am a fighter/musket master my character is a southern gentelmen.

I am trying to avoid gunslinger levels.

I would like to keep multiclass to about one level. I am wondering if a level in cleric would be better. The Mendevian Priest, and Crusader archetypes seem promising.

Have you looked at a single level of musket master? Gives a free rapid reload and gunsmithing

Grand Lodge

That would work. Can you use gunsmithing to make your gun a Consecrated weapon, as well as masterwork?

I would say yes, it would make sense long as you had some divine ability. Which you would

Grand Lodge

Would conductive or spell storing be good choice for the gun?
