Joining an AP at 8th lvl

Advice

Going to be joining a Serpent Skull campaign as an 8th level character, and Im considering playing a Saurian Shaman. I really enjoy the idea of the shaman, but Ive read that wildshaping druids past lvl 10 are facing an uphill battle. Should I consider multiclassing to help out in combat or just think of something else fun?

Depends how much you want to focus on wildshaping. You could make a druid that focuses more on summoning or other spells instead of wildshaping. It also depends upon capabilities of the party and its current composition.

The party currently consists of wizard, summoner, fighter, alchemist and cleric.
I know the fighter is a two handed weapon fighters, dont know much about the others.

You are may not be a top tier DPR machine but post level 10 you are still very solid in mellee and have a great spell list.

If possible learn about the summoner - is he summoning oriented or if he focuses on his Eidolon - if he uses lots of summoning you might feel outclassed by him when playing summoning-oriented druid (standard action casting, 1 minute/level for summoner's summoning versus 1 round casting and 1 round/level for you). Also, consult with GM if he hasn't any gripes with lots of summoned creatures during the combat - some dislike them, others not.

EDIT: I forgot about totemic summons of <animal> shamans - you'd get to summon dinosaurs with a standard action and temporary hit points. Still shorter duration than summoner one but have its advantages.
