Hi all,
I'm setting up a level 1 elf inquisitor. I have the following stats:
STR +1
DEX +1
CON +1
INT +2
WIS +2
CHA +1
This is only the second character I've put together, and I had a lot of help the first time. It was a bard, and I'd like to be a bit fightier this time around. I'm a Desna worshipper, so I'm thinking of taking a starknife as one of my weapons.
I have 150 gp to suit up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks :)

Okay, here's what I've got:
STR 13
DEX 14
CON 12
INT 15
WIS 14
CHA 12Feat: Skill Focus (Perception check)
Okay, you say you want to be an effective melee character. I'm gonna level with you, those are bad scores for that and a bad Feat as well.
How'd you get those scores, did you roll or are you using point-buy? Either way, some good advice can be given, but it's slightly different advice.

It was a 20 point buy. I think I'm still stuck in bardland. I tried to put higher points in the areas that inquisitors use for their skills, but I guess I didn't do a great job.
I would love any advice you could give.

Inquisitors can but, imo, shouldn't be built as skill monkeys. They are bounty hunters, monster hunters. Put at least a 15/16 in str, 14 in dex, 14 in con. Wisdome helps with spells, but for now, a 14 can do. Just try not to cast spells that have saves and focus on buffing.
Also, Elf+melee=usually a bad thing. I'd focus on a ranged inquisitor if you're stuck on elf. if you're not, I'd say go Dwarven inquisitor, which saves you points in con/wis, gives you a bonus to a useless stat for you, and then you can put those extra points in Dex/str and grab a longbow.
Str 14 (5 pts)
Dex 16 (10 pts)
Con 15 (+2 racial, 3 pts)
Int 10
Wis 14 (+2 racial, 2 pts)
Cha 8 (-2 racial)
For a quick and dirty longbow focused character, this could work. I don't dump anything, i just don't add to cha.

Your only real use for Int as an inquisitor is for making your monster knowledge checks... for which you get to add your wis modifier anyway, and mostly just need enough to identify type for bane purposes.
And you get 6 skill points per level, that should be plenty to work with as is. Skill addicts are their own worst enemies sometimes, build-wise =)
You also get to add half your level to Sense Motive and Intimidate, so go that route if looking for 'face' skills. Glare everyone into agreeing with you!
Drop both your int and chr, use those build points elsewhere (like strength!) If you want to be a melee type, you'll need a decent strength for both hitting and damage especially once you grab Power Attack (which you should)
You're restricted to simple weapons, which isn't so good, and you don't get any two-handed melee weapon from your Racial Familiarity. But you do get longsword as an elf, so you probably should two-hand one of those. (Half-Elf would have worked better for this by swapping out Adaptability racial trait for the one that gives you an (exotic)weapon proficiency of your choice (instead of the skill focus. Well, that or half-orc who get proficiency in greataxes and falchions).
You do get free proficiency in your deities favored weapon, but you already mentioned that was a starknife... so that's that.
Range wise, as an elf, you get bow proficiency, but Inquisitors get pretty much all range weapons anyway. So grab whatever ranged weapon works best for you (can never go wrong with the comp long bow).
Think about the teamwork feats you might want to take... in case there's a prerequisite you have to meet.
Just some thoughts.

Feats: You will want Precise Shot (no penaltys for shooting into melee)
Get a Darkwood Longbow (Darkwood counts as masterwork)
There is also an Archetype (Preacher) which gives you extra abilities. Pretty neat, I think.
Judgements: fast healing or the attack bonus are useful to have.
You could focus on dex, bumping to 18, and having 10 str or so. 15 or 16 WIS wouldn't hurt either.
The Inquisitor is already a good archer, skill monkey, and caster, don't try to fill too many roles by also trying to be good at melee.
