What is Slumbering Tsar rated?

Liberty's Edge

I have not had a chance to read it yet, and was considering using it for a group of teen/tween players. If it were a motion picture what would it be rated?

It depends, considering that what's allowed for each rating seems to change over time.

There's very little sexual content in Tsar (maybe a succubus or two?), but if you're worried about violence...that can kick it up fairly high. Some of the monsters and undead are not only vicious, but frightening in their appearance and tactics.

I'd say Tsar is rated R. If you make an effort to tone down the worst creatures, and wash over some of the back-stories, you can probably get it down to PG-13 though.

Tsar is probably rated R for violence. As alzrius said there is some rather vicious npcs and there are some pretty gruesome monsters and events that are key to the story.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks. It sounds like I better choose something different.

Frog God Games

Yeah, I would agree with what's been said.

It is awesome though.

Liberty's Edge

I bought one and will be playing for sure, just not with these kiddos. I am super excited to have one in my hands!

Some very disturbing stuff in Tsar - mature audience recommended.

Frog God Games

We aim to disturb the comfort of adventurers.

Indeed! I just finished my 4th GM session. Party returning from first foray into the Ashen Waste and have definitely delved into the nuances of mature themes and what's evil and what's good in a away that is implicit in this adventure. Depth of ambiguity is powerful and - imo - requires an ability to be comfortable in some of the mature content beyond the violence.

Not for the feint of heart or small children that is for sure. Characters will die and probably in large numbers.
