In Pathfinder Society you cannot have both (you're stricted to a single combat pet and a single non-combat pet).
Otherwise in a non-PFS game, you can have both. You cannot have multiple familiars as far as I know, but you could have multiple animal companions with the Pack Lord archetype. Heck, nothing other than silliness is stopping you from having a familiar, an eidolon, and multiple Pack Lord AC's.

You can have (in non Society Play):
5 Pal/1 Sor/1 Witch/1 Sum (In that order, or something close).
Getting:
1 Bonded Mount (Pal 5)
1 Animal Companion (Sor 1, Wildblooded Fey (Sylvan) Bloodline)
1 Bonded Item (Skill Focus: Any Knowledge, Eldritch Heritage (Arcane))
1 Familiar (Witch 1)
1 Eidolon (or more, depending on Archetype, Summoner 1)
1 Cohort (Leadership at 7th level)
This is the best combo I've come up with to get all the pets you can. Three of the four classes are Charisma based, as are all of the necessary feats. Note that this character is not especially optimized for anything other than having a posse.
There are those who will say that you can't have a bonded item and a familiar. That's not true in this case. One can choose a level of Sor or Wiz (I went with EH in this case for the Arcane Bloodline, same effect) and choose the object. After this choice has been made, a level of Witch gives a familiar, which is in fact required to be a Witch. Nothing about the class indicates a modification of pre-existing feats or features. Blammo! Bonded object and familiar.
I'd be interested to see if anyone could do this any better (in terms of optimizing the character). What say you?

Incorrect. You can indeed only have one combat pet, but you can have as many single non-combat pets as you want. It's when it becomes a nuisance/distraction (to the gm or others) that you then have to pick one non-combat to come along.

Can anyone find me a quote of the specific rule about single combat companions in PFS? I really can't find it, and want to quote it for another thread...?
