Oh, Dezhem. I slay myself.
Ahem.
I have a query about the Klar, since I'm considering making a Shoanti warrior type. Leaning towards a Bladebound/Skirnir/Spellblade Magus of the Skoan-Quah, carrying around some of his ancestors. This is for PFS, by the way.
The Klar is a Shoanti weapon that kinda combines a short sword and a shield into one. Digging around the various sources it's mentioned in, you can find the following.
I read that as the Klar being both weapon and shield. I also read that as 'you can use it as a weapon, lose the shield bonus, take a 5-foot step, regain shield bonus'.
Does that make sense?

"If you use a Klar to make an attack, you lose its AC bonus until your next action (usually until the next round)
Where is this quote from?
you can use it as a weapon, lose the shield bonus, take a 5-foot step, regain shield bonus
No, as a 5-foot step is No Action.
However, you could speak as a free action, even outside your turn.
Which makes that quote meaningless.
Using the Klar from d20pfsrd's ISWG rule it's more reasonable to rule it like any other light spiked shield. If you attack with it, you lose AC bonus, unless you have Improved Shield Bash.

It's from Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting, p.208. For PFS purposes I'm aware that it's essentially replaced by Inner Sea World Guide but as the Klar is available in it and not specifically noted as 'must use this version', it seems legit.
Fair call on the No Action. The Free Action bit made me laugh, heh. I missed the bit about it being an attack with shield spikes. Does that count as a weapon attack or a shield bash?
Furthermore, if it's a weapon attack, can a Klar be used to TWF/Shieldbash with itself?

PFS Additional Resources: "Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting - Equipment: wayfinder, all weapons on page 209..."
If it's page 208, then it's not legal.
If the page number is wrong, then it's only legal to use the old one if it was purchased (and on a chronicle sheet) prior to 3/7/11. Otherwise you have to use the new one.

Both. Bashing with a shield is a martial weapon.

The entry on the srd looks like it's basically a spiked light shield that deals slashing damage.
If you had two of them, I suppose you could Two-Weapon Fight with them.
