I'd say in about a week's time, these boards are going to be flooded with people offering to run the latest AP, once the PDFs are available. There should be plenty of opportunity then to get in a game.
If you're new to PBP games hee on the boards, my advice to you would be to craft the character you'd like to play, assuming the standard 20-point buy and two traits, and have your alias all prepped and ready to go, then start applying to games where the GM feels like a good fit for you. Some GMs take first come first served, others are more picky, but getting in early is often a good strategy regardless. If you're prepped now, you can start putting in apps as soon as the recruitment threads go live, making whatever minor changes in creation rules various GMs use.

Thanks. That is good advice. I have played D&D for many many years but play by post is new to me. I work a 12 hour day 5 days a week so its all I have for options lol!

I saw that game but It looks like it was already busy with little chance of a new to PbP player getting picked.
I wouldn't say that...although the pre-game roleplay may make it seem a bit daunting. Roll up a character and throw your hat in the ring. And if you don't get picked apply for the next one!
The toughest part for me is to come up with a decent back story; mostly because I don't truly begin to get truly to know who my character is until after I've played through a few encounters.

I use the questions from the first PFS guide to get me going: see here, I answered outloud and in her head but you don't need to do that.
It really supports my background creation.| Deane Beman |

Nice job. I actually wove my backstory into my role play dialogue...although whether or not that will be evident after another week or so of posts is another question entirely! lol
