Hi, for my April order I was duly charged $369.23. I am now going to close this particular bank account. I have since been charged another $362.35!?

My balance after the first rightful charge was zero, as I am closing this account. Now, I owe $362.35 to my bank. I am going to get murdered with fees. Please fix this.

Thanks so much.

Okay, now it doesn't have any charge pending on by checking account. I think cause of the square metal bases marked as pending, accounts for the lower price, but your computer pined my checking account for the whole amount again.

Anyway, let's hope it doesn't act up like this again. Pretty wacky what's been going on with my checking account cause of this. I want to close this 'bank' account, so charge it.

The answer to this is in the FAQ page

Paizo Employee Director of Sales

This was, as indicated by the FAQ link, a double authorization rather than a double charge. However, there was a special circumstance causing this double auth that is not covered in the FAQ.

The warehouse found that our inventory was off and the metal bases were actually out of stock. Rather than hold up your entire order for this one thing, they marked them as out of stock and shipped the rest out. Our system, being a computer and therefore not very intuitive, only saw that the amount had changed from the original authorization and therefore decided that it needed a new authorization. Then, because the original authorization was not expired, settled against the first one.

To sort this out, I'm putting the metal bases back into your sidecart to go out with a future subscription shipment. I will also try to get the second authorization reversed (sadly, this is still at the discretion of your bank, but I'll do what I can). Finally, we are looking at making our system be smarter about this sort of thing in the future, so it will hopefully only re-auth orders that actually need it.

I apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks,
cos

Hey Cos.

Yes, my bank sorted it out. Telling you, the answer to all our problems can't be solved by that next, best algo. Trading on the NYSE, I can tell you that High Frequency Trading algos cause all the volatility. There is nothing like the human element. Paizo, for the great part, has that human element.

Thanks Cos!
