I'm wondering how this would work.
2 Characters have the Paired Opportunist feat, which says (among other things)...
Enemies that provoke attacks of opportunity from your ally also provoke attacks of opportunity from you so long as you threaten them (even if the situation or an ability would normally deny you the attack of opportunity).
So if one of these characters uses Crane Riposte to get a an attack of opportunity after defecting an attack with Crane Wing, does his teammate get an attack of opportunity too?
I'm not sure what "provoke" constitutes in this setting. Using Crane Riposte ALLOWS you to get an attack of opportunity, but would this work to benefit the Paired Opportunist feat? Or am I dissecting the language too much?
Thanks!

It's a bit of a grey area, but it does not say in Crane Riposte that the opponent provokes an attack of opportunity, so I'd say Paired Opportunists would not apply in that case.
"Provoking" an attack of opportunity means that the creature that provokes did some action that left them open to an attack from nearby opponents. In this case, it is not the opponent's action that is provoking an attack of opportunity, but the Crane Style character doing a special action that provides him with an attack of opportunity when he normally would not get one.

Paired Opportunists sounds like it would work MUCH better with Snake Fang.
Benefit: While using the Snake Style feat, when an opponent's attack misses you, you can make an unarmed strike against that opponent as an attack of opportunity. If this attack of opportunity hits, you can spend an immediate action to make another unarmed strike against the same opponent.
Instead of 1/round, every time they miss you.
Would also be excellent with a Come and Get Me barbarian.

Not sure that the Snake Fang makes any more sense, since it doesn't "provoke" an attack of opportunity either.
But no matter...the long game is for the monk to get vicious stomp, which does make it so that targets he trips PROVOKE AoOs...so then the Paired Opportunist feat would kick in.
So we'll have to wait a few levels to get that going...thanks for the insight on Crane Riposte, too bad that didn't work...hehehe
