Running zombie doomsday game have some ideas but need help

i promised my group a zombie theme and i plan to start them off at level 2 but i want to make sure it isnt boring any ideas?


start in bar, let the barkeep have a shotgun
Let the zombies come trough a bottleneck (windows/door), they are staggered and easy prey. But perhaps add some light poison to their touch.

After a few waves, create a real scenario perhaps where in a near plague hospital some evil artifact has to be destroyed or something.

Have some cool variations like zombie dogs, sheep, perhaps a zombie rat swarm, if you want it to be a real doomsday, not a day in the exp parc.

actually i created a build for nemesis using a half-giant ogrekin zombie with the advanced creature template also the the zombies are plague zombies with players for various reasons being immune to the plague this is actually a long campaign with early firearms available but rare and advanced firearms as potential legendary weapons

If this is a one shot then just have a never ending stream of zombies and a safe point that the PCs must reach before a certain in game limit (two days, run out of arrows, the anti zombie talisman crumbles to dust).

If this is a campaign then you need to decide why there are hordes of zombies all of a sudden. The cause of the zombies will lead to the arc of the campaign.


Watch out for clerics channel energy can be brutal to big groups in small places I did something smiler in 3.5 and everyone just agreed not to play clerics due to turn undead. We had a lot of fun starting in an inn drinks were had, npcs were chatted up, then the town sheriff went to the out house and didn't come back. Being in a crowded building with a lot of commoner 1's panicking makes for tons of fun role playing. Hopefully you players will be in to the survival horror feel because it really breaks down if they start getting in to the talk of "alright we should be able to take on 3-4 at a time and be ok, so how do we divide and conquer" hopefully they will run with the "O God we're going to die" mindset.


War of the dead campaign for savage worlds, will need to adapt to pathfinder but it is good, every walking dead and first chapter is set on a cruise ship


classes hve been worked out with me already with no issues, as far as the zombies, i set it up that a powerful lich necromancer had been experimenting with yellow musk creeper and made it a carrier for this partially magical virus. the plant itself now grows quite agressively but the players are still in the early stages of the problem. also the players and characters both do not know about the plant aspect.

forgot to include the fact that there will be yellow musk zombie mixed in with the bunch, just to throw our ranger off a little
