Martial Artist and Abundant step

Rules Questions

So I noticed while I was rolling up the Monk archetype the Martial Artist that, despite lacking a Ki Pool, it still gains Abundant step at 12th level, while having no way to use it. Is this a mistake, and if so, what should the replacement be for it?

Grand Lodge

Probably a mistake, most likely they were meant to not have it or gain another ability in it's place.

Not sure if this is intended, but a Martial Artist could take the feat Extra Ki, gain a ki pool of 2, and be able to use abundant step once per day.

Extra Ki

You can use your ki pool more times per day than most.

Prerequisite: Ki pool class feature.

Benefit: Your ki pool increases by 2.

Special: You can gain Extra Ki multiple times. Its effects stack.

I do not believe martial artists have a ki pool.

I remember this being brought up right after Ultimate Combat came out. A developer (the author?) clarified that it was, indeed, a mistake. No extra replacement for it, just should have been listed with the other ki-fueled abilities that were exchanged for what the Martial Artist already gets.

But hey, their mistake. If you can still get a ki pool somehow, go nuts with it. I'm sure their is a bizarre Ninja/Monk build out their somewhere that could make some use of it.

I wrote the archetype. It is a mistake.

As far as I am aware, there have been no official errata or FAQ posts made to offer an alternative ability, but you could check the FAQ and see. If you search my name along with martial artist and abundant step, you'll probably see some potential alternate ability suggestions I made for an unofficial swap-out for the ability.
