Varisian tatoo

Rules Questions

im building my druid right now and i only want to confirm somthing whit varisian tatoo feat my DM say thats i cant take it as a druid.

Prerequisite: Spell Focus.

Benefit: Select a school of magic (other than divination) in which you have Spell Focus—you cast spells from this school at +1 caster level. Additionally, you gain a single spell-like ability usable up to three times per day. The spell-like ability gained (and its Varisian name) are as follows:

He say thats i need to chose a scool of magic and to do so i need to be a wisard or a spellcaster other than druid because im casting divine spell and they do not match.

is he right or i still can take it to improve my evocation spell ?

Edit: Deleted my post as I apparently was mistaken

No, when you take Spell Focus, you choose a school of magic (Not a wizard specialization). Almost all spells have a school, no matter what class you are. For example, Produce Flame from the Druid Spell list is in the Evocation school:

Quote:

Produce Flame

School evocation [fire]; Level druid 1

You can only choose a version of Varisian Tattoo in a school that you have Spell Focus in.

So, if your Druid has taken Spell Focus(Evocation), then you qualify.

This. Your DM is flat wrong, if you take spell focus then you absolutely qualify for Varisian Tattoo.

Correct; all you need to be able to do to enjoy a Varisian Tattoo is to be able to cast spells. All spells have schools of magic, so it doesn't matter what KIND of spellcaster you are.

ok tyvm guys now im happy 9d6 fireball in your face at lvl 5 :P mheu ha ha ha ha ha

oups im sorry not 9d6 itd 7d6

lvl 5 = 5d6 + varisian tatoo + pyromaniac = 7d6 sorry my bad was still conting gifted adept thats i cant take now cause at lvl one when i chose trait i dont know fireball yet + i miss read outlander trait i cant get a + 1 on fireball whit it sorry my bad guys

Actually this might be a good feat to take a low levels for conjuration if you are a human as it will increase duration from higher caster level of summoning spells. Also multiple weather based spells are conjuration. Spell focus conjuration also helps as it is the prequisite for augment summoning. Then take augment summoning at third level and and natural spell at 5th.

right now im fire domain my first feat is spell focus evocation at lvl 3 its varisian tatoo and i dont know yet for the lvl 7 one

Gifted Adept: "Pick one spell when you choose this trait..."

You pick one spell, not one spell you know. You can pick any spell.

Spell Specialization for +2 CL with one evocation spells? That can be changed when you reach even level and requires Spell Focus (Evocation) that you already have.

Spell Specialization

Select one spell. You cast that spell with greater than normal power.

Prerequisites: Int 13, Spell Focus.

Benefit: Select one spell of a school for which you have taken the Spell Focus feat. Treat your caster level as being two higher for all level-variable effects of the spell.

Every time you gain an even level in the spellcasting class you chose your spell from, you can choose a new spell to replace the spell selected with this feat, and that spell becomes your specialized spell.

Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a different spell.

so if i understand i can take fireball at lvl 5 to get the max 10 d6 fireball an then at lvl 6 chose somthing else like flaming sphere or call lightling corect me if im wrong

If you took the feat Spell Specialization (Fireball) at level five, and you have the Pyromaniac alternate racial trait, Varisian Tattoo (ragario), and Gifted Adept (Fireball), your fireball would be effectively caster level 10.

At level 6 (and every even level) you could change your Spell Specialization to something else.
