I've heard it said that you can apply base class archetypes to variant classes.
A ninja could take the rogue's scout archetype for example.
However, I see no evidence or rules to support this anywhere. Where is this coming from? Did I overlook something? Or is it just wishful thinking on the parts of others?
Jason's explanations of the difference between alternate classes and archetypes really makes me wonder why the Synthesist wasn't a full alternate class.
