Forge Ring Question...

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

I am not near my Core book and had a question...

If I have the Forge Ring Feat, and want to combine more that one effect into one Ring, is it possible/what is the cost?

I was thinking of combining a Feather Fall(2200GP) and +1 Ring of Protection(2000GP). I realize that I would need a Cleric for the Ring of Protection (My character is a Magus).

What would the cost be?

The most expensive component at 100% cost, and every additional one at 150% cost.

So 2200 + 2000*1.5 = 5200 gp

Scarab Sages

Thanks.

What's your source? I just looked in the RD and didn't find it.

I ask not because I doubt you but because I will forget the specifics of your answer, so I'm hoping to remember where to look instead of trying to dig up this thread. :)

I would also say that this falls under "creating a custom item" and must therefore be approved by the GM. You don't want to go down a road where you end up with a ring of climbing swimming feather falling protection ram evasion spell storing.

And you don't need a cleric for the ring of protection part, lacking the spell just adds 5 to the creation DC.

Magic item creation, just under the table:

"Multiple Similar Abilities: For items with multiple similar abilities that don't take up space on a character's body, use the following formula: Calculate the price of the single most costly ability, then add 75% of the value of the next most costly ability, plus 1/2 the value of any other abilities.

Multiple Different Abilities: Abilities such as an attack roll bonus or saving throw bonus and a spell-like function are not similar, and their values are simply added together to determine the cost. For items that take up a space on a character's body, each additional power not only has no discount but instead has a 50% increase in price."

The combo of 2 ring powers fall under "multiple different abilities".

The source is the Magic Item Creation Guidelines, or in print at the end of the Magic Items chapter (chapter 10 I think). Check under Multiple Different Abilities after the table.

As a GM you always have the power to stop it eventually, but combining the powers of two existing rings into one is one of the examples given in the Adding New Abilities section:

"If the item is one that occupies a specific place on a character's body, the cost of adding any additional ability to that item increases by 50%. For example, if a character adds the power to confer invisibility to her ring of protection 2, the cost of adding this ability is the same as for creating a ring of invisibility multiplied by 1.5."

The item is really just for a character in my 'What would you want to be, should you find yourself as a character in Golarion' thread.
No need to worry about DM approval (Besides, I'm the DM in 90% of our games anyways). I'm thinking about making a combined Ring for an Heirloom for one of the players in my Campaign. Nice to have easy access to the relevant rules, thanks.
