Ranger animal companions

Rules Questions

in the Core book they have a more limited selection than the druids. so my question is: in all 3 bestiaries they add more but have not specified if rangers get a limited selection from the books, or since not specified they get all. can any creators chime in for me?? if this has already been covered, then im sorry. im just really excited to play a ranger.....and lookin to go companion

The Ranger's animal companion list is not changed unless you have an archetype that does so.

You should talk to your DM about the expanding the list.

Let me rephrase. The companions available to a Ranger are defined in the Core Rule Book. There is no text for adding anything from the supplemental Bestiaries. However there are Ranger Archetypes that do make changes to the list. But you have to take the Archetype to get the change.

are you sure?? in the back of each one they have a list stating additions for both druid and ranger companions

Let me reference the Advanced Players Guide to show you what is being said here.

Advanced Players Guide Ranger Archetypes

Ultimate Combat archetypes

With the Beast Master archetype you get to choose from the whole list of animal companions from the druid list rather than the list in the core book for a base ranger. I am currently making a Falconer. This gives me an animal companion at level 1 instead getting it at level 4.

I hope this clears things up.

Then point your DM to the list and say "Can I haz?"

Unfortunately if your DM is PFS, the answer is no.
