Does a Ragechemist have the rage class feature while under the influence of a rage mutagen?

Rules Questions

And if so, can said alchemist take advantage of feats that require the rage class feature, like Raging Brutality?

Thanks!

Sadly No.

Honestly this is about the worst Alchemist Archtype going. As you level you actually get worse.

How so?

I'm thinking of a character who's kind of like Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde or Bruce Banner/ The Hulk - in his normal form he's meek and brainy, but after a mutagen he becomes a raging, intellectually-challenged, melee fighter. So the Ragechemist archetype seems like a good fit.

If not, is there a better approach?

Thanks.

I wouldn't say that it gets worse per se, provided you take the necessary precautions to keep your Will saves high. It isn't that hard to consistently beat a DC 15 save if you get the right feats and whatnot.

it's a really bad archeype, your Jekyll/Hyde is easily done by prestige class (yes they still exist in PF), the Master Chymist is made for that.
There is very good guide from ogre on alchemist, including stuff on jekyll/Hyde. hope you can find it, or someone nice comes along and posts a link.

The problem is that you can do this just as well with a normal mutagen. All the ragemutagen does is provide a minor static increase to your strength, at the cost of a declining int score with penalties that stay with you for a while after your mutagen ends. So you get a little stronger at the start, and (potentially) dumber each time you get hit.

If the strength bonus increased every time you failed the will save, then it would be a good archetype and would match your concept. (Even at +1 Str for -2 Int, it'd be decent.) As it is, you can just do the exact same thing by using a normal Strength mutagen and taking the discoveries to boost it.

You might want to consider the Master Chymist instead (or in addition).

Ok, Master Chymist. Got it.

Is there a better archetype, or should I stick with the base Alchemist class? I don't really need poisoning, so perhaps Beastmorph? Any suggestions?

Beastmorph is workable. Vivisectionist is fun if you want to focus on melee combat instead of bombs.
