Hey guys been trying to optimize a beastmaster now for about 2 days and was wondering what your guys suggestions are. mainly i would like to create a ranged beastmaster with a high damage companion. I looked into boon companion so maybe possibly having two high damage companions would be cool if that is possible. I need to know which animals are the highest damage, (Tiger and Trex) appeared in alot of what i read but something different is cool as well. What feats should i take if any and what feats should i give my animal companion when he gets them. Also since boon companion exists is it even worth taking beast master, i imagine with the possibility of having multiple companions at equal to character level benefits it is worth it. Thanks guys looking forward to the comments. Oh the level of the campaign is going to 20 just to add that.

I just created one.
The tiger is really good, and there is a dinosaur in bestiary 2 the Allosaurus.
For the Tiger I like to use it as a grappling machine. It is not that good at low levels, but at level 7 it gets a lot better. RP aside taking a small cat at low levels is better, and then switch to the tiger.
It seems the Allosaurus is also good at grappling. Boosting the int to 3 so it can take improved unarmed strike, improved grappling, and greater grappling help it a lot.
I would also hold off on two companions until you get to a higher level.
I don't know if it is worth it to take two animals, but I do think that one companion such as a tiger should help out. When in dungeons the size of the animal may cause it to get in the way in smaller rooms.
I like the beastmaster because I get access to the druid companion list, but it is not needed.
With a regular ranger the favored enemy bonus will apply to your animal companion so even a wolf can put out about 35-40 points of damage at level 10 IIRC. If you have boon companion it only gets better.
