Carry this for me, will ya?

Advice

Looking around has anyone seen a trait or feat from a Paizo product to increase carrying capacity (equipment nonwithstanding such as masterwork backpack or bags of holding).

I don't think there is, but they (you) could always spend a couple points in Handle Animal and get a Pack Animal like a yak. :D

True, but most beasts of burdens will not want to trode down some dungeon cave or ledge unless by force. Not to mention they make great troll snacks. Kind of meal on a stick......

I don't think it would be too overpowered to come up with a trait that, say, added 1 to your strength for the purposes of carrying capacity, or a feat that added 2

A masterwork Backpack costs 50g. Given that there's a trait (albeit a very powerful one) that gives you 900g, I think that a trait that added 1 to your str for purposes of carrying would be fine. (It would stack with masterwork backpack, but whatever.) By a ludicrously literal interpretation of RAW a masterwork backback increases your carrying capacity even for things that aren't carried in it, but I can see most DMs putting the kibosh on that, so +1 carry strength is better than the backpack, but the backpack is only 50g.

Muleback cords cost only 1000g - 100 more than a very good trait can get you - and increase carrying capacity by EIGHT. They take up a slot and are magical, but suggest that even a significantly higher bonus to carrying capacity wouldn't be crazy for a trait/feat. A minor bag of holding can carry 50 lbs of stuff (and doesn't have a defined weight but might weigh 15 lbs, for a 35-lb boost), which is worth about five-ish str, and that also costs 1000g.

In short, I think you could give a bonus of even up to +4 with a trait and still not be better than the best of the traits. A +1 bonus is pretty measly and doesn't really solve problems for characters that might have them (it's like three-five extra lbs to light load for a str 10ish character.)

True but that's why you put ranks in Handle Animal to deal with the unwilling beast of burden.

Them being snacks is a good thing! In a Kingmaker campaign i'm in our Druid had a Yak, bought on the side, just to carry our goods. Oddly enough the Yak saved us a few times in combat because of the damage it did. lol. Currently the druid has passed away, a shambling mound, and the surviving members have kept the yak for it's purpose and strengths or food if a hasty retreat/diversion is needed. :D

Heck, I would just use a riding dog with saddlebags. Easier to get up and down stairs at least.

I know a feat... leadership. ;)

Just hand it to the barbarian.

ask your dm to come up with a feat...a modest bonus would hardly be broken(id allow it in my games)

Grand Lodge

Yeah, muleback cords and masterwork backpack stack, and are fairly inexpensive.

Well Prepared lets halflings carry a surprising amount.
