Weapons that come with quickdraw, Shield user and range weapon problems

Advice

Trying to find weapons that already let you quick draw them like shurikens and quickdraw light shield.

I am trying to make a tactic for my Sword and Board/Archer Ranger. I'm trying to do this without quickdraw since I'm starved for feats, so the throwing shield was a nice touch. I picked a variant of ranger where I could not get spells, but at every 4,8th, 12th, 16, level I would get a bonus ranger Combat Style feat, for all you unrestricted feat needs. Mostly because the DM has a hatred for spell casting, and we are only allowed one caster per party.

It is unlikely this campaign will go over level 10, and this DM has been milking the lower levels.

We are currently level 4, and the DM has allowed the feat Shield Sling to be obtainable by level 4 without restriction for Sword and shield Combat Style so long as I promise to say SHIELD THROW, and CHARGING STAR, when using my shield like Captain America. :p He is allowing certain 3.5 feats.

It is a low magic campaign, this DM seems to just hate magic in general, but that is another story all together. So magical items are rare, so no help with that, but I might be able to convince him to allow Crystal of return, least.

Step one, throw shield, cause target to fall prone, there by slowing him down.

Step two, quick draw range weapon, and start pelting other would be targets, or even the same target despite giving him a bonus to range attack.

Step three, target stands up and resumes coming towards me/squishy caster I am defending, I quick-draw light shield, and shield slam target. The DM has allowed the Shield Slam from Complete warrior to work in tangent with the shield slam from Pathfinder because I said Captain America. He had also said I could use the shield as a Two handed weapon and as part of two weapon fighting if I have one hand free/wearing a spike gauntlet, because I said Captain America.

Nah da?

you dont need to dip into 3.5 feats. they have something called a throwing shield. free action to remove the strap and toss it.

but if you really want to play captian america, no class does it better then the tomb of battle from 3.5

"Bloodstorm blade" free action "returning" with a melee weapon at level 2 of the prestige class. not to mention a bunch of other bad ass class features that would allow you to use you shield for a weapon.

here it is from the adventurers armory:

Spoiler:
Shield, Throwing
This shield is designed for throwing and comes with specially designed straps allowing you to unclasp and throw it.

Benefit: You can throw the shield as a free action. Neither a shield’s enhancement bonus to AC nor its shield spikes apply to your attack or damage rolls.

Restriction: Tower shields cannot be throwing shields.

yeah if you have the book, its worth looking at for your game. it made my captian america character feel so accurate and pretty awesome without being broken.

O, I thought I mentioned the throwing shield originally...

Yes, that what I had been using so far, but you can only throw it once.

I would love to use Tome of Battle, but the DM has proclaimed that book to be so devastatingly overpowered that it is outright banned from his table.

For not so good, but understandable reasons. We used it in the past, and the player who was running classes out of there did not use the powers correctly. He literally destroyed a high level boss encounter meant for the whole party, by himself, while he was scouting ahead.

To be fair though, the player was an Assassin. So I don't know why he was so surprised that he was able to kill a target who wasn't aware of him in a surprise and full-round, even with sword sage powers, but that was just extra salt on the wound I guess.

So anyway, shield sling is great for its ranged tripping abilities, if I could make it return... Since how we have it right now. I can only have two shields on me. One that I wear before throwing it, and the one I quickdraw from my back, that I use mainly for slamming faces into it..

if you tell him about the bloodstorm blade he may change his mind. it is one of the most balanced prestige classes in it. its worth a try if you ask me.

you can literally use your shield to hit someone, bounce to someone else, hit them bounce to someone else... as many times as you can attack in one round. it IS captian america lol.

si down with him and read the abilities, you both will go "wow thats just like captian america"
