Is it just me or people feeling too entitled.

Ok guys I've seen more than a few threads asking the staff questions, and then getting a bit miffed when they aren't answered. I think it's great that the staff maintain a messageboard presence and many times go out of their way to answer a few questions, but they have a lot of work to do. I mean look at how much material gets released on a monthly basis, they have to be busy. Sobefore you get huffy for not getting a personal response from the developer/ author/ publisher of your choice remember they are doing other things than constantly searching the messageboards for questions, and you are not owed a response.

I see it sometimes, but I don't see it a lot. Mostly when I do see it, it is a question/issue that has been around for while. That does not give people the right to get out of line though, if that is what is happening.

Let's see if we can get some of the staff in here to comment. ;)

Wait... they aren't my personal walking rules-encyclopedias?

I'm also bothered by those who DO get answers and then trash the developers after they took the time to explain something.

Paizo Employee Senior Software Developer

I'm on staff, and I'll comment. I can't answer any rules questions, but I will note that calling out Paizo staff by name in the thread title, or including anything like "FAQ Request" in the thread title, is generally considered bad form and we will edit it out if we see it.

I would add that those hoping for a response might post in a thread the staffer is more likely to read in the first place. For example, the DM Reference threads in the AP forums have been graced by the presence of many of the adventure authors. My inference is that if I'm, say, Neil Spicer*, I'm more likely to check a DM reference thread about the adventure I wrote than threads that are less likely to concern me. Especially if the questions/concerns are raised respectfully, as they usually are in those threads.

*Disclaimer: I am not Neil Spicer.

Absolutley not!!! Please don't do this. It is extremely rude and inconsiderate to the original poster. It is hard enough to get people to stay on topic and provide a response that the op is looking for. But goign into a thread about french toast because you saw a post by Jason, and asking him about the Foozle Binder ability.. It is just wrong.

It like seeing two peoplw having a conversation and just stepping in and start asking questions about something else entirely.

LOL, that reminded me of the "I am not Paul Avery" buttons in the Zodiac.

And I think Chevalier's idea is perfectly valid (I think you misunderstood noretoc). If you have a comment, issues or questions about an AP/Module one of the best places to bring it up is in the correct AP/module thread. The best chances for a response by the relevent parties would be in those threads - I have seen it happen many times already.

General rules are a little bit tougher - FAQ would probably be your best friend.

As far as the entitlement issue, yeah - this is par for course with the modern information age of "INSTANT" reaction and response. I am glad that the staff here get involved in discussions - I don't expect it though, so when it happens it's a good experience.

plus there is a FAQ button that gets that point across already. Polite requests and obeying the forum guidelines is a much better way to convey your point/question than haranguing the devs/mods and being a tool.

II don't think that's what the good Chevalier meant... it is what he said though. If you post your question in the correct board that's closest to what you're shooting at then it's more likely to draw a developer/designer/authors notice.

So if you want a response about a situation in a PFS module then the PFS boards are where you should post. If it's about an AP then shooting for the AP modules GM reference thread is a good idea (as those threads are hodgepodges, but specific hodgepodges).

I didnt realise that. (I'd suggest someone should have warned me but...)

Seconded. A question is answered an official answer is given to the question and then because itès not the answer they wanted to hear proceed to trash the devs. Unless a Dev has made a factually error its disrespectful to trash them. Espcially because its not the answer they wanted to hear. If your not going to like the answer dont even bother answering the question.

Um...what Auxmaulous and King of Vrock said. The intended sense:
"those hoping for a response might post in a _relevant_ thread the staffer is more likely to read in the first place"

Hence my example of the DM reference threads. The author of an adventure is likely to read this thread. Or the product discussion thread. So a relevant question in these has a greater chance of being seen, and therefore of being answered.

noretoc - I would expect someone asking a question of a staffer in the French Toast thread to keep the question to the topic of breakfast pastry. ;)
