The Matador

Advice

In my campaign we have one bad guy who's very evil. He's called the Matador. We had a mission a while back to save him, we failed so he's undead now. He apparently has a sword that glows green fire and when he sliced a gold dragon, it zombified. I was trying to make peace with him and said the wrong thing. He said he wanted me dead. He came over to me and was just about to slice me when his sword was about an inch away from me, he stopped. Then he took his sword, put it into the ground and kneeled at me with his hands in a cup. After that he was speechless and left without hurting anyone else. I thought it was very odd, he wanted me dead then something must have happened to make him stop. One of my partners said something that might be true: Maybe we have the same lord, but I'm higher on his list. I actually don't know who my lord is, but apparently as my DM says, "I doing well for him." It's a whole big problem with me having one of the 9 rings of men and I don't know who has the One ring. Does anybody know what the Matador was doing? I don't...

Have you read (not watched) The Lord of the Rings? If not, I suggest you do so. References to the 'Nine Rings of Man' and 'The One Ring' pretty much sum up what the DM is doing, and it won't be pretty for you in the long run...

Do you know what the Matador was doing?

Of course not. That action sounds much more like a RP action than any sort of technical or mechanical response. Your DM clearly has a deep plan in action and is letting it be revealed as appropriate during the game.

Really, other than purely technical questions, asking any of us here on the boards what your DM is thinking is not going to get you a satisfactory answer. Simply put, we ain't him.

And seriously, read The Lord of the Rings. If you're in a campaign featuring anything called 'The One Ring' and you haven't read it, then you're swinging blind throughout the entire campaign.

hey, that matador guy does he by chances get multiple turns in one round because i heard something similar from another on this board. and i think its a huge meld of genres and influences.
some from LotR
some from GoT
some from SMT

i am pretty sure this is the matador you are fighting
if not it's still a pretty cool pic

Yes he gets 2 turns per round. My DM did say that he's from a game.

Is it possible that we could have the same master, but I'm higher on the list of minions. It might not be true, but is it possible?

P.s. I just looked it up, it's an actual game called The Matador this is based off of. Please answer this: from my last post on this thread I'm saying it again, is it possible?

We don't know. We don't play in your GM's game or what your GM is planning for your group. Next time you see The Matador, maybe you should try speaking with him. Maybe demand to know his master's name, or ask what his connection to you is? That's probably the most non-speculative way to get the information.

"Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne,
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie,
One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them,
One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie."

My guess is that the Matador stopped when he got close to you because then he could see that you wore one of the rings of men, just as he did. To him that meant that you were a servant of the dark lord, just as he is.
