Boon Companion and Leveling

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

Hi,

Just a quick question about the Boon Companion feat. If, as a 5th lvl. Inquisitor, I take the Boon Companion feat ( he has the Animal domain), what happens to my pet as I advance. For example, when I level to 6th level, do I recalulate my pet using the Boon Companion feat. I'm just a bit confused on how I level my pet beyond 5th lvl if I take this feat.

Thank you for your help.

Dark Archive

boon companion willl (assuming you stic with one class) let you count as da druid of your level for determining your animal companion in this case.

Grand Lodge

Boon Companion continues to add 4 to the effective druid level the character would otherwise have, without exceeding her character level.

A 5th level inquisitor with the Animal domain has a companion equivalent to that of a 2nd level druid. With Boon Companion, this becomes equivalent to a 5th level druid.

At 6th level, she would normally have a 3rd level druid-equivalent companion, which becomes a 6th level equivalent.

If she took Inquisitor 5/Fighter 1 instead, her companion would be 6th level equivalent anyway, because the effect of Boon Companion was limited by her character level before. At Inquisitor 5/Fighter 2 her companion would still be 6th level and wouldn't advance further with any more levels of classes that don't grant a companion.

Thanks for all of the input everyone. It really clears things up in my mind. If you want an animial companion, Boon Campanion is a a requisite ability because it will essenitally allow your pet to level with you.

Thanks again.
